I fancy myself a donutman not a coffee man so take that how you will. I have a motorcycle named the fritter getter and yeah I think I know good donuts. I also used to co-own an organic pastry bakery out in California so here me out... These donuts are absolutely generic and boring. They have zero personality and quite frankly are a lazy attempt at a donut... Just because you make the same donut in seven different flavors doesn't mean you have seven different donuts. It means you have one donut and you're trying too hard to make it taste good. So you tried seven different ways and none of them were successful. Last time these were brought to my work I chose not to eat one and chose to eat a store brand donut out of a box from somebody else because it was more appetizing. They have such little talent that they can only make one type of donut I guess and the ones that they make are not even that great. Unfortunately they are all overly sweet and aggressively dense. They just cover them with stuff and try and get you to think it's something different than the others that they sell. Come on give us an apple fritter, give us a long John, give us a cake sprinkle, give us a Danish g

Went there for a couple of donuts for my husband and me after visiting the amazingly restored Michigan Central Station in Detroit and ended up buying an additional half dozen, which we took back to New Jersey. Even though they are still good after a day, they don't taste like they did yesterday. The box they give you is good if you live in Detroit and go home and put them in an airtight container. Yesterday, they were amazingly delicious, fresh, real, and not super sweet, and we enjoyed them thoroughly. I just put one of the ones I brought in the little oven/toaster and is much better, still delicious. My favorite was the plain and my husband's was the glazed plain, although he also liked the cherry-almond and the blueberry glazed. I forgot to take pictures of the donuts because I couldn't think of anything else but eating them. I just took a couple of the end of my blueberry-glazed donut and the plain and lemon-glazed we still have to eat.

Yellow Light Donuts inside the Michigan Central train station is a nice little spot to grab something quick. The building itself is really beautiful and it's great to see businesses opening up in such an iconic Detroit space. They have donuts, biscuit sandwiches, and a few seasonal flavors on the menu. The donuts all seem to use the same base with different toppings or variations. They're decent, though they can be a little on the oily side. On the plus side, the prices are pretty cheap and it's a convenient place to stop if you're already in the building. Overall, it's a nice addition to the neighborhood and another reason to check out the Michigan Cen tion area.

Stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon and had a good experience. The shop is small but has a nice ambiance. I got a plain black coffee and it tasted hot and fresh. I would also recommend stopping by to check out the mini museum and gift shops, which are also in Michigan Central Station.

Got one of each flavor and they are fantastic! They are not overly sweet so you can definitely eat a few in one sitting. Beautiful building and great service β€” will definitely be back. New fan of Yellow Light Donuts!! My favorite was the vanilla bean and the chocolate :)
